A Race to the Finish

It's terrible that I've gotten in the habit of only blogging once a week. But things are very very busy here- I'm preparing to leave for a study abroad trip in like 9 days. NINE DAYS. I'm going to be in Europe from August 23 until November 9. That's a long time to not be sewing.

So, this is me formally telling all four of my subscribers (love you guys!) that I will NOT be blogging about quilting for the next few months. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to be blogging at all, honestly. I may turn the Life of Couch into a travel blog for the time that I am traveling, but who knows, I may not have time.

But for now, I am working on finishing things.

GOALS FOR TODAY:
1. Finish quilting my Quilt Barf quilt.

I decided to quilt it with straight lines. I don't really have the time to free motion quilt it, and I thought the straight lines would look nice, since the pieces of the quilt are absolutely crazy and go every which way. My lines aren't perfectly pin straight, but I don't mind.

2. Piece together Swoon Block #8

I finished Block #7 on Monday. I want to have the entire quilt pieced together before I leave for Europe, or else I know it's never going to get done. I'm actually making two quilts, one for each of my step sisters. So when I return, I'll be swooning all over again!
The girls like to play in my room, so I hide the blocks in plain sight on my bear.
So far, it's worked.

3. Start and finish the Old Maid's Puzzle block in the Sister's Ten BOM

I'm really sad I'll be overseas for the last two blocks, so I need to make sure this one gets finished before I leave! I just hope I have enough fabric for the last two when I come home, I'm tearing through all the Mendocino I had bought for this.

It's now 10:14 AM in Virginia... readysetGO!

Linking up to WIP Wednesday!

  1. We'll be in the same boat of being away from our sewing machines for WAY too long but let's not think about that now. I'm hoping my package arrives for you soon! And I must adopt your drive to finish things; keep going, things look awesome so far!
